Excellent value
5 out of 5 stars.
I have had one of these for at least seven years but three months ago it started to give a less-smooth shave (not surprising really!). So I bought three new cutters, £32,20. Months later the machine refused to start so I have replaced it with the same model, complete shaver £29.19. Anyway I now have three nearly-new spare cutters. If this new shaver serves me as well as the old one I shall be more than pleased

So surprised
4 out of 5 stars.
Quiet and does a wonderful job, so impressed with this electric shaver which represents excellent value for money.

Bought One....and Then Another
4 out of 5 stars.
I have a collection of shavers but on impulse bought an HQ40 on discount for £9.99. It was impressive and the first Philishave I had used in decades, but I simply wanted a change from foil and the cost of replacing it whenever it perforated.

I liked the HQ40 and so bought this HQ6695 which i use quite frequently alternating with foil shavers. It cuts well and leaves a smooth finish and runs slower than the foil cutters. I am well-pleased. I had been tempted to experiment with the Remington Rotary but read the reviews here first and steered well away.

All in all, much lighter than I remember shavers - but that is smaller motors and transformers, but it does cut well and leave a smooth finish so I am well-pleased

Built quality not as good as previous generation of Philips shavers
4 out of 5 stars.
I bought this shaver because I have used Philips brand for the past 15 years. When I received this one, I noticed immediately the cheap feel of the housing compared to my old one. The "Made in China" did not help to increase my confidence either. Switched on, the shaver vibrates in your hand (none of my previous shavers did). Shaving is good and comparable with my previous Philips shavers. However, I think that the new moving heads are not as good as the old heads. Previously only the rotating shaving head floated, now the surrounding collar moves as well, which, with me at least, moves the heads further away from my skin and shaving takes longer. Noise level is a bit lower than previous shaver but has an uncomfortable high pitch. I don't think this shaver will last as long as your old one but it's still worth the £25 (NOT the full RRP of £50).
