Editorial Reviews:
Warning from Paramount Home Entertainment (UK): The stunts in this movie were performed by professionals, so neither you nor your dumb buddies should attempt anything from this movie.

Some critics see the success of Jackass: The Movie as the last nail in the coffin of civilisation--and they're probably right. This compilation of pain-inflicting stunts and embarrassing pranks has no artistic merit whatsoever (which doesn't keep it from being freakishly entertaining). Among other things, Johnny Knoxville and his posse get beaten up by a female kick-boxing champion; shoot bottle rockets out of their rectums; run amok in Japan wearing giant panda bear costumes; swim with whale sharks while holding pounds of brine shrimp in their swimsuits; and get done up in realistic old age makeup so that they can race each other in motorized wheelchairs, among other goofs. It's a weird mixture of machismo and masochism, adolescent recklessness and frat-boy homoeroticism, and some day someone will write a doctoral thesis about how Jackass relates to our safety-obsessed society; in the meantime, just enjoy. --Bret Fetzer

This is the Jackass review!!
5 out of 5 stars.
The first time i saw this movie i probably wet myself. Some of the stunts the people do are so funny you will watch them over and over. Some highlights are the brilliand intro, party boy, the muscle stimulator, all the old make up ones and every stunt they do!

if i could give this movie six i would!
5 out of 5 stars.
If your thing is infantile dangerous pranks, then this movie is for you. I mean who wouldn't giggle at a 20+ year old attempting to pole vault a palm tree for heavens sake? Or how about 4 grown men destroying a golf course? And the best of them all. A firework alarm clock! If you are weak in the stomach area i wouldn't recommend you watch this. (One of the scenes involves... a 'nasty accident' if you get my meaning) But if you are a fan of physical comedy and are looking for a cheap belly laugh. Buy it.

"Jackass: The Movie" (2002)
5 out of 5 stars.
Here is a movie in which the producers ask us to watch full-grown men attempt dangerous and crude stunts for an hour and a half for our (and their) entertainment. There has never been anything quite like "Jackass: The Movie," and there have been very few films, as funny. After being blown apart by "Jackass: Number Two" not too long ago, I decided to look back at the original Jackass film. I found myself with tears in my eyes due to the amount of laughter that I released. It was perhaps the ninth time I have seen the film, and it was just as funny as the first time I saw it.

"Jackass: The Movie" is a film that needs the right audience. The movie obviously contains the guys blowing things up, setting of fireworks, dancing in public areas, defacing, getting biten and screaming in pain, but there's also a load of vomit, dung, semen and urine to blend it all up. If you're easily offended, "Jackass: The Movie" is not for you.

Who are these "jackasses?" Well there's Johnny Knoxville, who makes the fact that he 'leads' the Jackass crew very clearly in this movie. Bam Margera, the professional skateboarder and overral nutter. Steve O, who is mostly famous for performing the "disgusting" stunts in the "Jackass" television series. Chris Pontius, who is mostly famous for playing Party Boy who, funnily enough, has his own skit in the movie. Preston Lacy, who doesn't really do much except laugh. Ryan Dunn, who performs one of the funniest stunts in the movie. Dave England, who is mostly famous for his celebrated "Omelette" skit in the series, and Ehren McGhehey, whom the Jackass cast and crew seem to hate.

I hope I am never asked to perform anything from this movie, but the guys come across as people I would like to hang around with. They have fun performing these stunts, even if it does really hurt!

The opening sequence came across as, suprisingly, quite a powerful scene. The boys come in on a massive shopping trolley, which is being pushed by Lacy, McGhehey and England, who somehow manage to stay onto the trolley by holding onto it. We are introduced to the boys as they zoom down this hill in slow-motion to the classical tune of "O Verona." "I'm Johnny Knoxville and Welcome to Jackass!" was obviously the first line, said just before the boys get thrown out the trolley and land into a load of garbage.

Most of the stunts are hiliarous, some sick, and very few unfunny. "The Muscle Stimulater," "Rent A Car Crash Up Derby," "Butt X Ray," "Party Boy Japan," "Wasabi Snooters," "Yellow Snowcone" and the dreadded "Papercuts" are the ones that stick in my mind though. I don't like lists, but I literally cannot stop typing.

The DVD is also fantastic. It features a 29 minute section (longer than an actual Jackass episode!) which is filled with deleted stunts, a couple of music videos, and "The Failed Ending" which actually worked pretty well. The quality is fantastic, and this is a perfect DVD for Christmas at a fantastic price!

I think the movie is perhaps the funniest film of this century, followed by "Jackass: Number Two." I have seen a lot of funny films this year: "Number Two," "Borat," "Tenacious D." But nothing I have seen in the past five years can be compared than the first time I watched "Jackass: The Movie."

great stuff
4 out of 5 stars.
from the opening sequence which is cooler than an eskimos freezer until the end when they have a party in front of andrew w k,jackass the movie is a lesson in brilliance, while strictly not a movie in as much as a series of sketches brought together to form a feature length event.
For those in the dark, the crew that make up jackass are all skateboarders and such like that formed to create stunts that bring laughs and tears as what they do is usually sore and blood inducing, johnny knoxville is the leader who along with his pals have made a career of getting drunk and then hurting themselves, while not for everyone the movie is great entertainment, mind you the papercut scene is pretty hard to watch, all in all a great watch.

You just don't get tired of it!
5 out of 5 stars.
Its crazy at times, and just mindless for others, yet its just.. fun! Johnny Knoxville and his 'buddies' tour the likes of Japan to simply, be Jackasses. From running around in panda suits, to setting off fireworks in a bedroom at night, it'll have you in stiches of laughter by the end - Guranteed! And the good news is, you just never get tired of it! Its ideal when your bored, or with mates at home.
The only DVD i've watched that has made me laugh so much, with little to no directing, and absolutely no script or acting! Get this now!
