A must
5 out of 5 stars.
A must have for Mecha fans everywhere.

Apart from the story being a little lame on its own (check out the rest with dolores I) there is nothing this can go wrong with.

A good starter(Idolo) for Z.O.E. completed with a good ender(Dolores I) to boot.

Great for a fan of the franchise
4 out of 5 stars.
If you are new to the whole ZOE experience then this might not be quite your thing, although it is a nice beginning for the whole plot of the games/animations. It gives some nice background info on Viola, and lets us see her character in a whole new light: what she was rather than what she became. BAHRAM is at this point a small group of martian rebels, who are very different to the extremist organisation you fight against in the video games. Although this is a very short movie (only 50-55 mins) it is very well done, with some nice action sequences and a big focus on the bond our hero develops with his Orbital frame/girlfriend. The one big surprise I found in this was the ending, not a particularly happy one. (Ok, it is pretty disastrous compared to most endings)
Overall a very good DVD, but it loses the one star for lack of interesting special features and length of the movie.

Fantastic DVD.
5 out of 5 stars.
ZOE Idolo is a great entrance to the Zone of the Enders saga. The animation, the audio, and of course the plot; everything is superb. If you are a fan of the ZOE videogames you will love this DVD.

Z.O.E Idolo 2167
5 out of 5 stars.
This anime, more of a feature length episode than an actual film, is the prequel to the Z.O.E Dolores,i series. It is a good example of the sort of content that a video-game company can add to an already interesting setting, and watching it is a must for fans of the Zone of the Enders series.

The anime itself focuses much more on the main characters' emtions - and also on the interplay between them all - rather than on the Orbital Frame Idolo, and although not especially long, is filled with more meaning than many other animes.

All in all, if you intend to watch Dolores,i, watch this first, and if you enjoyed Zone of the Enders watch this as soon as possible. Other anime fans are in for an enjoyable and well-animated 51 minutes.

An excellent introduction to the 1st ZOE game.
4 out of 5 stars.
This short animation (about 50 mins) is filled with more story than most feature-length films. It was originally released in Japan with the 1st ZOE game. The story concerns the secret development of the 1st Orbital Frame 'Idolo' by Mars, and the political and personal turmoil the test-pilot faces from the oppression from Earth, and the unknown effects of the Metatron fuel. The film has a very surprising ending and also introduces and develops the character of Viola - you can now find out why Viola was so angry at everyone in the game. Finally, the ending shot of this film will bring a big smile to those who've played ZOE.
