| Editorial Reviews: | | | | | More a slow-burning, underrated comedy gem waiting to be discovered than an immediate classic, Operation Good Guys is a wonderfully funny spoof of the all-too-common docu-soap phenomenon. Following the exploits of an elite undercover Police team, the first series sees the staggeringly inept "Good Guys" blunder their way through an assortment of high-profile cases. With these seven episodes, the docu-soap format is ruthlessly and expertly lampooned: in "The Informant", the team attract a million-pound lawsuit after mistaking footballer David Seaman for infamous criminal Smiler McCarthy ("You don't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. Or legs, in this case"), all the while playing up to the cameras ("This is like Sesame Street. With guns.") Dominic Anciano and Ray Burdis, in danger of being struck off the artistic roll call with their dismal Brit-pack gangster film Love, Honour and Obey, have easily made amends with this series, bolstered by sharp writing and a host of excellent performances--notably David Gillespie as DI Beach, admirably trying to justify the team's monumental stupidity with a desperate air of professionalism. Perfectly capturing the format, Operation Good Guys is replete with brilliant absurdity and laugh-out-loud moments. In fact, there are moments when this series becomes indistinguishable from its satirical target. --Danny Graydon | |

| | Easily the most underated comedy on TV. A hillarious cast (Ray Burdis stealing the show in almost every episode) this spoof documentry will have you rolling with laughter. One question remains, why isn't this show a hit?! If, like me you can't get enough of this cast I recommend the film, "Love, Honour & Obey", a gangster/comedy film also starring Ray Winstone, Jude Law and Sadie Frost.
| | A hilarious and original comedy series. | |
| | This is the most original comedy to come out of the BBC in a long time, and definitely one of the funniest. The characters, plot and quality of acting are superb. Dominic Anciano and Ray Burdis are onto a clear winner with this hilarious spoof documentary series, and I hope that the BBC commission a fourth series. An absolute classic.
| | If you think this is good just wait till ................... | |
| | A very entertaining 200 minutes, a cracking spoof docu-soap that so many people missed. This is one Christmas present that'll be watched again and again. Mind you if you think this is good wait until you see series 2. In my opinion much much funnier.
| | Superb British comedy - a must see! | |
| | I don't believe that the people in charge of Comedy at the BBC quite realise what a hit they have on their hands with Operation Good Guys. It is a superb spoof documentary, with quality comic acting and writing. Why the Beeb have taken SO long to release it on video I do not understand.... If you have never seen this before you must watch it - five minutes and i promise you'll be addicted to it's documentary/voiceover format. BBC - pay attention - read these reviews - give Ray Burdis and Dominic Anciano lots of money to make a new series of this British hit - and while you're at it, give a wheelbarrow or two full to Mr Coogan for a new series of 'Partridge'!
| | | the best comedy on britsh television for a long time. i eagerly wait for the new series to be on video, because i for one will be the first in the line for my copy i might start queing now!
